Auli in Winter (December–February)

Winter is Auli's skiing season. The slopes receive heavy snowfall from January onwards, with 20+ ski runs catering to beginners and intermediates. GMVN operates ski equipment rentals (₹500–₹1,500/day) and coaching classes. The Auli Ropeway from Joshimath (12km, Asia's longest at 4km) provides access and spectacular views year-round.

Auli in Summer (May–June & September–October)

Summer transforms Auli into a lush green meadow adorned with wildflowers. The Gorson Bugyal trek (3km) offers 360° Himalayan views. Auli makes the perfect extension after completing the Char Dham Yatra, as Joshimath (the base) is just 13km from Badrinath. Apple orchards, oak and conifer forests, and the artificial lake at Auli add to the experience.

How to Reach Auli

Auli is 16km from Joshimath via ropeway or road. Joshimath is 253km from Haridwar (~9 hrs by road). Nearest airport: Jolly Grant, Dehradun (281km). From Badrinath to Auli is barely 30 minutes by road — making it the ideal add-on to any Char Dham trip.
